Yasser Ashraf Gandomi

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Mench in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering (MABE) at University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

As a member of Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion Lab (EESCL), I have collaborated with peers on multiple projects funded by Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Volkswagen, and several other government and third-party companies (i.e. W. L. Gore and Associates).

The central theme of my research has been focused on the investigation of mass and heat transport processes in electrochemical systems including polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEFCs), all-vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs), and electrochemical sensors (ESs).


EnergyStorage

 

My experimental and modeling experiences in various electrochemical systems have developed my expertise in phenomena related to electrochemistry, fluid mass and heat transport and transport in membranes.

My interests are in the high-performance Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion Devices (EESCDs), Thermal Storage Devices (TSDs), Solar Thermophotovoltaics (STPVs) and Water Desalination (WD).

I also contribute to the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE) e-newsletter as a "writer". The IAHE e-newsletter is being sent for more than 8000 people world-wide. In addition, I have gained invaluable experiences in writing grants and mentoring younger students.
